[Solved] 500 - JHtml: jquery not supported. file not found

I tried to re-enter the administrator end of my joomla 2.5.3 site after installing a module, but I got this error message below:
500 - JHtml: jquery not supported. file not found
SOLUTION
The error occurred as a result of installing the wrong version of the module for joomla 3.4.3 instead of for joomla 2.5.3. The new module was incompatible with the site.
I had to go into the cpanel, then entered into the file manager, click on modules, then located the wrong module that was installed, clicked on it and deleted the folder.
I then relogin into the administrator (backend), and I couldn't access the site backend again.
The steps looks so easy, but you have to be really sure of identifying the wrong module installed and if not sure, delete the recently installed module folder.

A New Sheriff Is In Town By Femi Adesina

Some call it the Buhari bounce. Others describe it as the Buhari effect. Yet some others say it is the Buhari aura. One thing is, however, crystal clear. Things have not been the same in the past 100 days in Nigeria, since Muhammadu Buhari assumed the presidency. A new sheriff has truly come to town.

Exactly 100 days ago, he climbed the podium at Eagle Square in Abuja and got inaugurated as president, 30 years after he had been toppled from power as military head of state. He promised to belong to nobody, and to belong to everybody. It is a pledge that still resonates loudly today, and will surely echo for a long time to come.

On a day like this, you would expect a presidential spokesman to chronicle the achievements of his principal in office. He has turned stone to bread, slain the dragon, and climbed Mount Olympus in ten seconds. But that is not what I want to do. There are some intangible, almost imperceptible achievements, but which run very deep, and are quite fundamental. Those are the ones I'll rather talk of, while we leave the tangibles till some other day.

Oh, he's escaping. There are no concrete achievements, some wailing wailers would cry. True? Not true. I could have decided to focus on the bloody nose being given to Boko Haram in the North-East, which would see the country rid of insurgency soon, the rallying of leaders of other neighboring countries to deploy a Joint Multinational Task Force, the openness displayed about government finances and the welfare package instituted for states that couldn't pay salaries, the Treasury Single Account, which would promote transparency and accountability in governance, the disappeared fuel queues, fast-tracking of the cleanup of Ogoni land, reduction in the cost of governance, and many others. But I will not focus on all those. The day cometh!

When a new sheriff comes into town, disorder gives way to order. Chaos flees. Impunity is swept away. Laxity gives way to diligence, and people change their old, unedifying ways. When you have a Wild, Wild West situation prevailing, the new sheriff comes, and stamps his authority. Old things then pass away, behold, everything becomes new.

Nigeria had always needed attitudinal change. That was why the Buhari regime launched the War Against Indiscipline in the 1980s. And the war was succeeding, till a spanner was thrown in the works through regime change. Buhari was called all sorts of names then: despot, tyrant, iron-fist ruler, etc. But the discerning knew. They understood that it was a change we needed. And that change was postponed for 30 years.

But what is bred in the bones never goes out through the flesh. Immediately after Buhari returned on May 29, Nigerians knew that discipline was back. The bird of the homestead told the ones in the bush, and they all sat up. No unnecessary chirping. Stealing is now corruption, they whispered to themselves. God help you if you get caught.

Now, consider the situation with electricity and with our refineries. Electricity has climbed to about 5,000 Megawatts. Some refineries, which had not produced a drop of fuel for years, have cracked into life. Even the perennial queues in our petrol stations have disappeared, vanished. Is it because Buhari threw billions of dollars at the problems? No. Those things simply responded to the presence of the new sheriff in town. Those who manned those schedules could afford to be laid back  in the past. But not anymore! The music has changed, and the dance steps must follow suit. And would Buhari take credit for the newfound zeal and efficiency? Not the plain and honest man from Daura. The broadcaster Omotayo Omotoso had come to the presidential villa to interview him sometime in July. And she had asked what the magic wand he waved was, that refineries, long comatose, had sprang back to life. The President responded that it would be dishonest of him to have claimed he did anything. He had not touched refineries at all. But unknown to the President, he did something. He had swept into town with his reputation for efficiency, and for achieving results. And the refineries, fuel supply, electricity supply, responded to the new sheriff. May things continue to get better till the change becomes enduring and irreversible. Amen somebody!

Another imperceptible but momentous achievement is the faith that Nigerians now have in their leader. Yes, the opposition numbers in millions, and naturally so. A political party had held power at the centre for 16 years, and its loyalists would not simply disappear, or get converted overnight. About 12 million Nigerians had voted for the presidential candidate of that party in the March 2015 general elections. Would they just cross over to the winning side? It often takes awhile. But despite all that, a great deal of Nigerians, a vast majority, believe in the new sheriff. And that is great achievement. A big deal. When the citizenry believe in their leader, and almost can swear by him, it is no mean feat. The NOI polls, in a survey in July, revealed that over 70% of Nigerians were happy with the Buhari administration. And I can bet that the percentage would rise, as the months and years roll by. Faith in leadership is something that does not come cheap.

And this one! Even our foreign reserve knows that a new sheriff is in town, and has responded appropriately. In June, just one month into office, and with the plugging of some leakages and loopholes, foreign reserve surged from $29 billion to $31.89. Holy Moses! Just in one month. Well, that is what a new sheriff can do. He brings sanity, confidence and probity to the system. And you would agree that Nigeria needs such shot in the arm, if we consider recent past experiences, when our treasury was like a bag filled with holes.

An evidence of the believability of the new sheriff, and the confidence reposed in him, is the disclosure that came this week from Ambassador Godknows Igali, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power. He said since Buhari came to office, not a single sabotage of the power infrastructure has been recorded, and it is one of the reasons that electricity supply keeps improving. But did Buhari line up soldiers across the power infrastructure? Did he hire a combination of OPC, Egbesu, MASSOB, MEND and Arewa youths to keep vigil? No. Just believability. Those who are so angry with the country, and would go to any extent to sabotage development, have decided to give the sheriff a chance. They have heard of his reputation. A man that believes in fairness and justice. He would do right to all parts of the country.

Can you imagine the respect our sheriff commands on the international scene, and how it redounds to the glory of the average Nigerian? American President Barack Obama said Buhari came onto his job with reputation of integrity and a clearcut agenda. Ambassador Johnny Carson, also during the U.S trip in July, said the Nigerian President was a man of honour and integrity. Everywhere he goes, the Nigerian President is lauded and garlanded for his virtues. And the image of the country is burnished and repositioned in the process. Surely, greater days are ahead.

Some people say the sheriff did not hit the ground running, as he is yet to constitute his cabinet in 100 days. And I usually ask such people: when you hit the ground, and you land in mud, how do you begin to run immediately? You can only sink deeper, if you attempt to run. The thing to do is to first clear the mud, till you get to terra firma, and then you can begin to run.
President Buhari has spent time trying to clean the Augean stable he inherited. And he is succeeding. Sheriffs can either come in with guns blazing, shooting malefactors to kingdom come, or simply stamp their authority on the situation by sheer force of personality and presence. The Nigerian sheriff seems to have opted for the second option for now. But we should never forget that sheriffs are licensed to shoot. And those shots can be lethal for lawbreakers. In a matter of months, you can ask those who had bled our treasury to the point of death. They'll have stories to tell.

Use and Search Google like an expert

You are always ready to consult Google when you are looking for a webpage, but do you know there are many other useful, quick things you can do, right from the Google search bar?

Try doing a quick calculation, figuring out conversion rates before your next trip or finding a definition of a word. All of these are right at your fingertips with some little known features of Google search.

The following advance Google search tips are by no means comprehensive. Try learning and using them, you will rank up really high on Google search rating.

So, here we go:

As your calculator

Type a math calculation on the search box and Google computes it for you – from simple calculations to more complex equations. You can type your query in words, numbers, symbols or a combination such as 2+2 or 12 or 12/3.

Use the tabs

Ever notice the tabs on Google search? On the top of every search are a number of tabs. Usually you will see Web, Image, News, and More. Using these tabs, you can help to define what kind of search you need to do. If you need images, use the Image tab. If you are looking for a recent news article, use the News tab. It's rudimentary and most people use the tabs already. If you are not, it is recommended that you get acquainted with them. They can cut search times dramatically if utilised properly.

Currency conversion

It is easy to perform currency conversions. Type '£10 in Naira', '$10 in Euros' or 'ten pounds in euros' to see the latest rates.

Search within a site

If you are looking for a book from Amazon.com or a laptop from leo6technologies.com, there is no need to go hunting through the site. With Google, you can quickly and easily do a site search by typing your query, and 'site:leo6technologies.com'. To get there even faster, try entering your query and the web site and clicking 'I'm feeling lucky'. For instance, if you're looking for a bicycle on ebay, try entering 'bicycle ebay' and 'I'm feeling lucky'. Google takes you right where you want to go.

Use inverted commas to make a search more precise

When searching for something specific, try using quotes to minimise guess results for Google search.

When you put your search parameters in quotes, it tells the search engine to search for the whole phrase. For instance, if you search Nigeria presidential election, the engine will search for content that contains the three words in any order. However, if you search "Nigeria Presidential Election", it will search for that phrase exactly as you typed it. This can help to locate specific information that may be buried in other content if not sorted out correctly.

Results on a map

When you want to quickly see the location of somewhere to eat, put your type of food plus the town or postcode and Google will display the results on a useful map. For instance, when you search Chinese restaurants in Lagos, it will show you restaurants fitting that description in that area.

Definitions

Use Google to get glossary definitions gathered from various online sources. Just type in the word you're looking for and 'definition', and the search engine will search online to give you the meanings you are looking for.

Follow your favourite football team

If you are a fan of the English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch or Italian football league, it is easy to get up-to-date match scores and data, or information about your team's next match. Simply type in your team's name and detailed up-to-the-minute information will appear at the top of your results.

You do not need to bother about capital letters or plurals, Google searches and gives you the same results whether words are capitalised or not. So, type your query in either upper or lower cases.

Google ignores common words like the, and, is, of, and to when used in search queries without quotes. Adding them does not change results, so leave them out. In addition, Google automatically searches for all forms of a specific word. So, you do not need to bother about whether it should be dance, dances or dancing. Type one of the words and Google will do the rest, giving you results that cover all forms of the root word.

Web page translation

The "Language Tools" link to the right of the search box on the homepage takes you to Google's translation service and also allows you to translate entire websites into your language. This is great for students, academics or researchers.

Nigeria beat Angola in AfroBasket 2015 Final to win first-ever continental title

RADES (AfroBasket 2015) - Nigeria beat Angola 74-65 in the Final of AfroBasket 2015 in Rades, Tunisia on Sunday to claim their first-ever continental championship.

In being crowned African champions, the Nigerians also qualified for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Meanwhile, second-place Angola joined third- and fourth-place Tunisia and Senegal in booking their places for the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQTs).

Angola went into the Final looking to win a 12th African title and led early on, before Nigeria's rotation made the difference as they turned the score around in the second quarter and once they took the lead, they held on to it, going up by as many as 19 points.

Chamberlain Oguchi hit a trifecta of three-pointers on his way to a game-high 19 points for Nigeria, with Olaseni Lawal finished with a dozen. Carlos Morais led the Angolans with 15 points while Yanick Moreira added 13. Click here for the full game report.

Oguchi was rewarded for his impressive tournament and huge individual performance in the Final by receiving the Most Valuable Player award, presented by Tissot.

The 29-year-old headlined the All-Star Five which also included his Nigeria team-mate Al-Farouq Aminu, Morais of Angola, Tunisia's Makram Ben Romdhane and Gorgui Dieng of Senegal.

"It's the best moment of my life, to be able to come here after missing the last AfroBasket, to be able to come here and do this with my brothers, it feels amazing," Oguchi said afterwards.

"I'm happy to be able to share this moment with them and for me personally, it’s just really great."
Tunisia bounced back from their Semi-Final defeat to Angola on Saturday to beat Senegal 82-73 in Sunday's Third-Place Game. Michael Roll made 4 of his 8 three-point attempts to lead all scorers with 25 points as the tournament hosts - despite playing without their star Salah Mejri - led for most of the contest and gave their fans something to cheer about. BREAK LOOSE FROM IRREGULAR POWER SUPPLY - SOLAR POWER TO THE RESCUE

"Device Name: Solar panels

Function: To collect and store the free energy from the sun to generate electricity"

Failure on the part of successive government to provide minimum power requirements for its citizenry has caused us to loose unimaginable resources both financially and of course, intellectually.

However, we cannot continue to wait and engage in blame game as to why we can't provide electricity for our households and business organizations.

Wise individuals, communities and institutions have taken the bull by the horn by being their own generating stations. We all do this but in different ways. Generators are the most common power generating equipment, apart from its daily consumables - fuel, oil etc, the environmental effects such as noise and air pollution, which contribute to the depletion of the ozone are quite devastating.

Alas, there is an alternative power generation, the solar power which God has freely given unto mankind, devoid of the aforementioned pollutions and daily consumptions. Recently, an energy consultant on television said that majority of the residents of a particular popular estate in of Lagos, which I won't want to mention has virtually replaced all their roofs with solar panels to generate power.

A common question that pops up when solar is being discussed is "its expensive".
I will agree and again disagree. Agreeing in the sense that the initial cost of installing the solar power systems might be a little on the high but this headache can be solved by carrying out the installation in phases; and I disagree because the cost of solar panels and inverters has gone down considerably, its not what it used to be.

Finally, the benefits far outweigh the cost and you also can imitate a friend whom after enjoying the free solar energy that you don't have to pay electricity bills, decided to disconnect his house from PHCN (old NEPA).

Join the wise! At our outfit, The Leo6 Technologies Limited, we are evangelists of solar power adoption and we are here to solve your power problems. Contact us on 08035640336 or 08080699426. Visit our website, www.leo6technologies.com.

Two Referees Suspended for Rest of NPFL Season

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) referees, John Charles and Ogunta Matador, have been suspended for the rest of the season by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The decision to suspend the referees was reached Monday by the NFF Referees Committee  after reviewing the performance of the duo in the Sunshine Stars versus Dolphins FC in Akure last Sunday.

Chairman of the NFF committee, Yusuf Ahmed Fresh, explained that the two officials have been suspended for "gross misconduct and performance below the required standard."

The League Management Company (LMC) Chairman, Shehu Dikko, also re-echoed the same line as Ahmed stating that the performance of the referees is considered unacceptable.

"John Charles and Ogunta Matador that officiated Dolphins FC and Sunshine Stars FC are suspended for the rest of the season from NPFL matches. This is as a result of their poor and below standard performance in the match that the LMC and the NFF Referees Committee consider not acceptable," Dikko said.

Charles and Matador were the centre referee and second assistant referee of the NPFL match between Sunshine Stars and Dolphins which the former won 2-1 through a controversial second goal by Prince Aggrey.

Meanwhile, Chairman of  NFF Players' Status Committee, Alhaji Kalli Babagana, has warned clubs on the domestic scene that are owing their players to be ready for hefty sanctions.

Babagana came out of a meeting of his committee at the weekend lamenting the attitude of many Nigerian clubs to the welfare of their players.

"It is sad to see that many clubs do not care about the well-being of their players. They do not mind owing players for several months and even years. How do they expect those players to feed themselves and their families, and even plan for the future?

"A labourer deserves his wages. We were faced with scores of cases of clubs owing players so much money. Very soon, we will descend on these clubs. The non-functioning of the Players' Status Committee over the years has not helped matters, and we thank the new NFF board for making this committee functional again."

Suleiman Hashimu, Lagos to Abuja trekker meets Buhari in Abuja

More excitement filled the air around the presidential campaign headquarters of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abuja late Friday evening as Mr. Suleiman Hashimu, the Lagos to Abuja trekker finally met with the president-elect, General Mohammadu Buhari.

Suleiman Hashimu, Lagos to Abuja trekker meets President-Elect in Abuja

Hashimu had made a personal promise in 2013 that should Buhari contest and win the 2015 presidential elections, he would trek from Lagos to Abuja.

Having won the March 28 elections, Hashimu was forced to fulfill his promise and on Monday, April 20, 2015, he arrived Abuja from Lagos amid a cacophony of excitements and surprises.
Giving details of his journey to the President- Elect, the trekker said he passed through Kwara to Niger and then to Abuja.

Though his story may sound incredible, Hashimu said he didn't care about what people would say of him, stressing that what mattered to him was the fulfillment of his promise to God and himself.
He said: "I made a promise because of the love I have for Mr. President that if Buhari should win the 2015 elections, I will trek from Lagos to Abuja which I have done. I thank God that I made a promise and I fulfilled the promise.

"I passed through Kwara and Niger states to Abuja. I was trekking from 6.00am to 6.00pm and anywhere I find myself when it is 6.00pm, I pass the night there.I spent 18 days from Lagos to Abuja.

"Once I found myself inside the bush by 6.00pm and I managed to continue the trek till 9.00pm to a nearby village.
"I made this promise two years ago. I am based in Ibadan and I started my journey from Lagos because Lagos is the most popular city in Nigeria and I started from Berger junction in Lagos.

"I am not bothered about what people think. It is a promise between me and my God. I don't want anybody to believe me. I left Lagos because I made a promise. Right from Kwara state, I never walked alone for five kilometres. People always walk with me to the next village. I work with a construction company based in Ibadan."

Speaking at the event, Buhari congratulated Hashimu and thanked God that his health did not fail him.
"I want to congratulate you for making it. He is a young man and he was lucky that his health did not fail him. I also heard so many stories that you wore almost half a dozen pair of shoes. I also understand that there are people who have been quite generous to help you to pay for pair of shoes", Buhari said.

AIT 2015 Conference to focus on Emerging Trends in Applied Computing for Global Impact

AIT 2015 Conference to focus on Emerging Trends in Applied Computing for Global Impact
By Olatunde Tijani, LOC Secretary, AIT 2015

The world is now a global village, thanks to the power of innovative technology and power of creativity in the form of human resources. The   likes of the early fathers of computer, Pascal Blaise, Charles Babbage and more recently, Microsoft Founder, Bill Gates; Dell Founder, Michael Dell; Apple cofounder, late Steve Jobs and many more have revolutionize the way we communicate and exchange information.
From the era of giant computer which occupies a whole room, generating excessive heat to the present world where a micro-computer (smartphone) now fits into a pocket and performs even better functions. From desktop computers with CPU, keyboards and mouse to portable laptops and netbook, one can access the internet and exchange information and date with a click. New inventions of computers include changes to their different screens and touch screen enabled configurations.

Our communication systems like telephones have also changed. Bulky analogs characterised with broken network signals have now been transformed into small and handy mobile phones. The fax machine, Internet for chat and emails keep our communication with our loved ones and people around us, easy and fast.

In 2013, the world received the birth of the fastest supercomputer named Tianhe-2, also known as the Milky Way 2 located in Guangzhou, China with a throughput (processing speed) of 33.86 petaflops. Tianhe-2 is the creation of China's National University for Defense Technology. The device was built to "provide an open platform for research and education and also provides high performance computing service for southern China, according to the University of Tennessee's Jack Dongarra.

According to Wikipedia,"Supercomputers play an important role in the field of computational science, and are used for a wide range of computationally intensive tasks in various fields, including quantum mechanics, weather forecasting, climate research, oil and gas exploration, molecular modeling (computing the structures and properties of chemical compounds, biological macromolecules, polymers, and crystals), and physical simulations (such as simulations of the early moments of the universe, airplane and spacecraft aerodynamics, the detonation of nuclear weapons, and nuclear fusion)."

The availability of information through innovations in ICT has made the world a better place. All thanks to the British computer scientist, Tim Berners-Lee who created the World Wide Web (w3). With the click of a link on the internet, you are guaranteed of host of information and more recently the power of social media, the world is now truly a global village. Facebook, twitter, hi5, skype, myspace and google+ just to mention a few have intertwined the world and make communication even better.

Here in Nigeria, Daily Independent Newspaper of February 10, 2015, reported that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has approached the Osun State Government in Nigeria, seeking to adopt the e-learning device Opon Imo (Tablet of Knowledge) created by the Governor Rauf Aregbesola's administration. UNESCO also requested to re-produce and adapt the educational learning resource material and content of 'Opon-Imo' to promote its' educational programmes in Nigeria." Opón Ìmò, "Tablet of Knowledge" was developed to revolutionize learning and support education in developing states around the world.

In Ogun State of Nigeria, a giant stride was achieved in the application of IT, when the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led administration implemented the about to be launched Geographic Information System (GIS) for the administration of land processing. This project according to the Ogun State Government "will improve the overall performance of government, by building a robust platform to centrally manage land and all related activities."

Technologies have no doubt evolved greatly right from nothing to the Stone Age and lastly into a world full of machines, equipment and inventions which are continuously changing our lives. Alas, human race is yet to witness the best of information technology, because the next research, discovery and creativity have not been tapped and the world is waiting and depending on the broad computer field professionals and scientists to berth the latest technology for mankind.

Most of these innovations were products of deep critical thinking from workshops, seminars, roundtable discussions, symposia and conferences on Information Technology. This is why; the Ogun State Chapter of Nigeria Computer Society in conjunction with Department of Computer Science, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State conceptualized an International Conference on Applied Information Technology (AIT 2015) which will hold at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria between October 7-9, 2015.

The conference with the theme, "Emerging Trends in Applied Computing for Global Impact" is to address, discuss and exchange knowledge on all disciplines of Information Technology (IT).  AIT 2015 will provide a key forum for researchers and industry practitioners to exchange information regarding advancements in the state-of-art and practice of applications of Information Technology.

While speaking on the conference, the Chairman of the local organizing committee, Prof. Adio Akinwale said the conference, apart from meeting the international standard will not only produce useful scholarly works, it will also offer participants the platform to network and share ideas on the information technology and computing world which is expected to give rise to a new technological innovation that the world will be proud of.

The  conference will focus on  Cryptography and Information Security, Intelligent Information Systems, Big Data Computing, Cloud Computing, Mobile Communications and Networking, e-Health/e-Banking/e-Agriculture/e-Commerce/e-Government, Bio-Informatics, Learning and Education Technologies and Computer Aided Designs.

The conference organizers are calling for papers from students, authors, researchers and professionals in the IT field. Instructions for submitting such papers can be found on the conference website www.ncsogun.org.ng/ait2015.  Selected papers will be published in the Journal of Natural Science, Engineering and Technology published by Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta or International Journal of Computer and its Applications published by Nigeria Computer Society. Registration for the AIT 2015 conference is strictly online on the conference website www.ncsogun.org.ng/ait2015.

The Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria was the venue of the 2014 Information Technology (IT) Development Competition organised by the Nigeria Computer Society, Ogun State Chapter on November 4 - 5, 2014 with the theme "IT Diversity Perspectives for Global Impact".
The competition which started in 2009 is a gathering of students from higher institutions in Ogun State that also attracts lecturers - who are coaches, professionals and participating companies from the ICT field.
In her presentation, the guest speaker, Mrs. Funke Olakanmi-Noble of Accenture Nigeria said "as the world has become a global village, users are continually demanding for more new products and software which would seamlessly provide access."
This she maintained "provides many opportunities and threats and thus, accentuates the need for innovative individuals with diverse IT skills and ideas to impact the ever increasing population with its growing demands for easier, faster and more accessible platforms to perform both individual and corporate activities.
This diversity maximizes the effectiveness of the shared resources and thrives on virtualization to provide tools, technologies and Infrastructure to carry out processes with much more affordable prices compared to traditional computing techniques."
She however was quick to identify the areas needed to key into this vast IT opportunities as understanding the gaps in IT educational skills in order to assess the necessary skills and concepts to be inculcated into the student curricula, re-evaluating existing IT curricula to meet the changing demand of the fast-paced and dynamic IT industry and the need for government, private sector and educational institutions to make huge capital investments for the development of technical infrastructures and systems to support global IT trends.
With this, the speaker is sure IT diversity would lead to better innovation within the IT marketplace and essentially improve the global economy.
A number of other presentations were made by other guest speakers including Dr. Niran Oyekale, CEO, Commit Technology and Consult.
According to the Chairman of the society, Dr. Bukola Onashoga while addressing the audience during the opening ceremony of the competition said "this year's event is a clear departure from the norm as the frontiers of the event was elaborated to accommodate institutions from across the South West zone of the country, which include the premier university, University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Lagos State University, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Oyo State College of Agricultural Institute, Crawford University, Babcock University, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta and DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic among others."
The Chairman of the occasion and the Vice Chancellor of the host institution, Professor I. A. Adeyemi commended the organisers for the sustenance of the IT Development Programme, especially the 6th edition.
The two-day event, for the first time, featured an IT Innovation Presentation where participating institutions made presentations on using IT tools to solve problems in the society. It was a beauty to behold as Speakers from the various tertiary institutions made fantastic, brilliant and feasible presentations about using Information and Communication Technology to solve problems in different sectors ranging from the maritime to transportation industry and the banking sector.
At the end of the contest, it was the Lagos State University who came out tops while Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta followed closely as first runners up and Crawford University emerged as the second runners up.
However, a major upset was caused later in the day, when Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa against all odds emerged as the winner of the IT Quiz competition, outscoring their counterparts from the universities namely Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and University of Lagos who finished in the second and third positions respectively.
On the second day, the healthy rivalry between the institutions continued, as the stage was set for the much-awaited Accenture Software Development Challenge where participants are expected to build, design and program codes from the scratch to develop a web portal for e-learning. Three hours was the time allotted for the competition which interestingly drew the presence of the company with the best software in the world, Microsoft Nigeria and the sponsor, Accenture Nigeria.
It was accolades, shouts, back-patting and pageantry as the winner of the competition was announced by the judges, after a long-awaited and suspense-filled break period. The winner was no other than the host institution, Bells University of Technology, Ota who had left it late to give their teeming colleagues and other students of the institution something to cheer about. Babcock University were the proud first runners-up while Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta also went home as the second runners up.
By and large, the programme lived up to its billing and participants alike were delighted to be part of the epoch-making IT event of the year. Prizes were presented to winners of the different competitions.
